Valid forms of identification

PPL requires a government-issued photo ID. If you don’t have one, we can accept a photo ID along with another form of ID.

Government-issued photo IDs may include:
  • Driver’s license
  • State-issued photo ID card
  • Passport, resident card, or visa
  • Military ID

If you do not have a government-issued photo ID, you may provide two alternative forms of ID, one of which must have a photo. The two forms of ID collectively must show your:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Issue and expiration date of the document
  • The agency that issued the document

Alternative photo IDs may include:

  • School ID
  • Work ID
  • Union membership card
  • Credit or debit card with a photo

Supporting alternative documents may include:

  • Birth certificate
  • Adoptive decree
  • Legal change of name
  • Social Security documents
  • Social Security card
  • Health Insurance card including Medicaid and Medicare
  • Selective Service card
