Tremont Borough Reliability Project

In October 2024, PPL Electric Utilities began a multi-year project to convert an aging 23 kV electrical distribution circuit and substation to a 12 kV circuit and substation. The change makes the circuit consistent with other circuits in the area and will enhance the flexibility of our system to allow us to reroute power when needed and improve overall reliability.

Additional phases to improve reliability will be completed in the coming years and will include:

  • Installing stronger wires, poles and transformers to further enhance our system’s ability to withstand more severe storms.
  • Adding fault detection sensors to help identify problems along the power line before they cause power outages or pose safety hazards.
  • Trimming trees and limbs near power lines in the area to reduce the risk of tree-caused power outages.
