On December 1, the Price to Compare, also known as the PPL Electric default rate, will decrease to 11.028¢ per kWh. This is the new price you will pay for the supply portion of your electric bill if you’re not shopping for a supplier.
You have the option to shop around and choose the electricity supplier that is right for your family. There are a variety of factors for choosing an energy supplier and we encourage you to use the Price to Compare as a reference point. Now is the ideal time to check your rate, review supplier offers and contract terms and see if you’re getting the best deal.

Keeping Bethlehem bright
Earlier this fall we donated and installed hundreds of energy efficient LED lightbulbs throughout Bethlehem’s Northside in support of the Brighter Blocks initiative. The project was sponsored by Northside Alive, a Bethlehem-based neighborhood revitalization initiative, and the Bethlehem Health Bureau to create brighter and safer areas for local families. We’re proud to partner with organizations like these to help our communities thrive.

Ask a Customer Service Representative
Question: Why do we need to shop to get the best rate?
Answer: Great question! In Pennsylvania, customers can shop around and choose the electricity supplier that is right for them. For those that don’t shop, we provide default supply, also known as our Price to Compare which is updated twice per year. We encourage you to check your bills during this time to see if you are shopping and use our Price to Compare as a reference to see if you are getting the best deal.
